A Safe Space for Women

Jessica Murphy Richard

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Sarah's Circle is near and dear to my heart. I've volunteered with the organization in different capacities since 2014. Sarah's Circle provides a safe space for 2/3 of the Chicago homeless population that are single, unaccompanied women. Resources are also provided to women who are at-risk of homelessness.

Because 92% of SC's clients are survivors of sexual or physical trauma, I believe it is especially important to have access to a female-only environment. This community is a space of healing and personal progress.

Aside from permanent housing that is reserved for women who are deemed in most dire need, the Daytime Resource Center has an open door policy for any woman who needs access. It is truly a community for the women who rely on us. Sunlight shines in over the reading nook, where some women chat, read, or even just take a rest from the cold. Women also gather near the computers and telephone, all free for use, with access to laundry and private showers nearby. With approved plans for a new 38 unit permanent housing building, and an updated 50-bed interim housing shelter, your support is much needed and appreciated by the women that we serve.

There is no better time than now to say "I stand with the homeless women of Chicago. You have my support. I will walk home with you."

Sincerely,
Jessica Murphy Richard
